Enforcement and Feedback

Thank you for your interest in keeping KSU a smoke/tobacco-free campus. Building a smoke/tobacco-free campus requires participation of all members of the KSU Community. While enforcement is important, please remember to treat all individuals on campus with care and respect.

  • 03/01/2015: Enforcement ticketing begins. ($25.00 ticket per violation from a KSU Police Officer). Fee assessments and collections will be processed similarly to parking tickets, with an equivalent appeal process. Select the “Procedures” link on the menu bar of this site for more information.

  • 01/06/2015: Online reporting begins. All members of the KSU community can report smoking incidents observed on campus through the online KSU Concern website. When reporting incidents related to the Smoke-free and Tobacco-free Policy, please include as much detail as possible, so the university can use this online tool to assess areas of concern and respond accordingly.

  • 10/01/2015: SMILE Ambassadors and approach begins. If you notice someone violating the smoke/tobacco-free policy, you are welcome to inform him/her of the University System of Georgia (USG) tobacco-free campus policy. Select the “SMILE Ambassadors” link on the menu bar of this site for more information.

  • 04/13/2015-05/10/2015: KSU Smoke/Tobacco-Free Survey was released to campus. View the Survey Results web page for more information.

The appeal process for tickets will be equivalent to the process for parking tickets and each appeal will go through a due-process by the respective student and/or faculty, staff, or visitors parking (and other citations) appeal panel(s). The following web pages provide more information on the appeals processes:

In the meantime, we welcome your feedback on policy, enforcement, resources, or other questions or concerns.
